How to Fold the Corner Bookmark Base

Begin by cutting out one large square along its solid outside border. Fold the square diagonally to create a triangle.

Bring both lower corners to the top point, crease them firmly, and unfold them so the two guide folds remain visible.

Next, fold only the front layer of the top point down to the long bottom edge. Bring the left and right corners back toward the top, then tuck both corners inside the pocket created by the folded flap.

Choosing a Halloween Character

The bat uses broad wings, pointed ears, round eyes, and optional fangs for a classic Halloween shape.

The ghost has a wavy edge, simple oval features, and an arm piece. These two designs are especially quick when you want a recognizable result with only a few additions.

The pumpkin includes a stem, leaf, triangular features, and a wide jack-o’-lantern mouth. The black cat uses pointed ears, eyes, a nose, and a curved tail. You can use every printed piece or leave some off for a simpler finished bookmark.

Preparing and Attaching the Character Pieces

Color the square and character pieces before cutting if you want to add orange, purple, green, or other Halloween colors.

Small pieces are easier to handle while still connected to the page. Cut around each solid outline, then place the pieces loosely on the folded pocket before attaching anything.

Use a glue stick or small pieces of double-sided tape to keep the paper flat. Attach decorations only to the closed triangular front of the bookmark. Keep glue away from the pocket opening so the finished piece can slide smoothly over a page corner.
